Born in Bergamo in a family of professional cyclists (his father Pietro has been world track champion in 1971 and his uncle Vittorio has been Italian road champion in 1984)
After being a professional cyclist from 1997 to 2001 (Team Mapei and Team Lampre) in 2004 he become sport director at Team Saunier Duval.
From 2010 organizes Bike Tours dedicated to cycling fans and everybody who want to enjoy the best places and food on a bike!
He speaks Italian, English, Portugues, Spanish.
17 years as a professional cyclist, 30 victories, second position at the World Champs in 1996 in Lugano, winner of the Liege-Bastogne-Liege and Amstel Gold Race.
After the career as a cyclist Mauro became General Manager of many cycling World Tour Team. Saunier Duval , Fuji-Servetto , Footon-Servetto, Geox. Over 120 victories, included the Vuelta of Spain in 2011.

The riders of the Lampre-Merida Pro Tour Team will join Best Bike Tour Camps. Lampre-Merida is an italian road bicycle racing team, member of the UCI ProTour, and has been since the tour was formed as the top category of road cycling in 2005. The team has a strong presence in all the biggest cycling events, included: Tour de France, Giro d’Italia, Vuelta of Spain, Paris-Roubaix etc..
In the 15 years since Lampre-Merida team was founded has obtained more then 250 victories included Giro d’Italia overall, many national champs and the world championships in 2008 edition.
